V.A - Unity´s great reggae hits

UNITY Fue un subsello de pama de los 60 en el cual se produjeron, sobretodo canciones de Slim Smith, Stranger Cole y Lester Sterling. Otras producciones destacadas de Unity fueron "Wet Dream" de Max Romeo, "Top the pop" de Derrick Morgan y "Wake the Nation" de U Roy. Se le considera uno de los grandes sellos de skinhead reggae

Pero si por algo destaca UNITY es por su single de Prince Buster "thirty pieces of silver"/"Everybody ska". No se sabe muy bien como PAMA se las apaño para conseguir estos dos temas, hay quien dice que las pirateo. De todas formas, ese single, con galleta de UNITY, es probablemente es el unico single de Prince buster producido en Inglaterra fuera de los estudios de Melodisc

The skadows - Ska´d for life

Los Skadows eran una banda londinense de 2 tone fundada en el 78 por miembros de la BBC que buscaban adaptar el rock surfero a la musica jamaicana. No tuvieron demasiada repercusion en la escena inglesa de los 80, exceptuando sus dos covers de los Shadows (grupo del cual "plagiaron" el nombre), Telstar y Apache. Normalmente, entre los amantes de la musica jamaicana, existe una vision idealizada de los rude boys. Pensamos que eran una especie de rebeldes de su tiempo, tipos de origenes humildes, macarras y rebeldes contra el sistema opresor en el que vivian. Sin embargo, muchas canciones de la época reflejan todo lo contrario, reflejandolos como buscalios que reventaban pinchadas al aire libre, o incluso como delincuentes comunes que no dudaban en repartir machetazos a quien fuese si no le daban todo su dinero

Este recopilatorio recoge catorce temas que hablan de esto último, de como, a ojos de algunos, los rude boys eran simplemente delincuentes y un problema para la sociedad y el progreso de Jamaica

AKRYLYKZ

The Akrylykz fue una banda de 2 tone procedente de Kingston upon Hull (Inglaterra). Con tan solo 3 años de duracion y 2 singles, son unos de los grandes secundarios de la escena 2 tone inglesa, totalmente eclipsados por las grandes bandas como Madness o The Selecter. En 1980, grabaron junto a Desmond Dekker un Cd donde este ultimo adaptaba sus canciones al 2 tone, llamado Black and Dekker

Tras la disolucion de la banda en 1981, su cantante y saxofonista, Roland Gift, fundo junto a miembros de The Beat una banda de new wave llamada Fine Young Canibals
